Drs. Who Refer Patients

Transcript:

Hello, my name is Dr. Aaron Moreland. I’m a doctor of chiropractic and I own Viejo Health Wellness Center in Eden Prairie. And I’m also the clinical director here. I just want to talk to you a little bit about the Minnesota disc Institute and Dr. Jamy and I just want to tell you about some of the patients that we’ve referred over to him and just wanted to specifically talked about one that we had sent over recently in our office. We do see a lot of people that have low back pain neck pain and such and do see great results with them. But there are times when we find that we do have to refer them to somebody a specialist.

And I think of just one recently that had come in a few years ago she’d come into our office because she was dealing with some low back pain pretty significant low back pain and she was having numbness and in her foot and also having what we call foot drop where you can’t put weight on your foot. And so determined that she did have a herniated disc. And at that time I wasn’t familiar with Minnesota distance too. And so we had referred her over to the to a surgeon that we work with and they did surgery on her and it did help. It helped with the numbness in her leg and her foot and was with the dropped foot. But she really still had a lot of pain in her back. And we really had to see her on a regular basis for that pain. And so. A year and a half after the surgery she’d come in again with very similar symptoms and what she had prior to the surgery and a few weeks before that the way that she spent some time sat down with Dr. Jamy Antone told me about his program and the program sounded something like this patient could benefit from. So instead of sending her off to surgery this time we sent her over to Dr. Jamy’s office after a few visits saw the patient again and she was doing significantly better. In fact she’s recovered completely and never did have to have surgery. And so we were very appreciative of that. Really helped me to understand how much that Minnesota this institute the program that they have there could help someone with that. And so since then we’ve sent other patients over as well to get the desk healed rather than just having more of a symptom approach that we see you in surgery or with the epidural shot. So we’re very thankful for being able to work with the Minnesota disc. We look forward to continuing to work with them and seeing our patients that we can’t get better here seeing how they can help them and get them get their life back for them. So hopefully this is helpful for you and that if you have any questions I know that they’re willing to take any of your questions and if you have any questions for me I can be reached at (952)500-8090. Have a great day.

SPEAKER: M1
Today I’m joined by Dr. Jamy Antoine owner of the Minnesota disc Institute. Dr. Antoine how are you today. Very good thank you. Terrific folks that have serious neck injuries tingling in their legs and their arms. Really want to hear what you have to say today. Yes. Let’s talk about some of the patients that you see.
SPEAKER: M2
Absolutely. A very specific type of patient that we see our patients that have been a lot of places actually they’ve been do traditional chiropractors that have been physical therapists. Most have had epidurals. Even a small percentage actually had surgery for severe issues like severe pain in the neck or back numbness tingling weakness very chronic. Those are the very typical patients that we see great.
SPEAKER: M1
And the type of care you provide is very specific and you talk about that.
SPEAKER: M2
It is. It is called the amnesty method of care. It’s actually a trademark program that was developed by a doctor in Michigan. And long story short this program actually helps the disc heal and that’s why a lot of therapies out there really don’t work long term because they’re basically pain management tools not really helping a disc heal. So very typically patients will have bouts and episodes of pain for many decades actually is a very common where sometimes they’ll have severe pain sometimes they won’t they’ll get medication they’ll get shots or what have you and some of those therapies can help temporarily but they have a very short shelf life meaning that they are only helping with the pain they’re actually not helping the disc itself heal. So those therapies will eventually fail. And that’s where we see people coming into our office after trying many many things. Lots of time lots of money spent and really no success. And that’s why our program has such a high success rate actually over 95 percent because they’re actually getting the disk tissue itself to heal 90 95 percent success rate is very impressive.
SPEAKER: M1
What if someone is talking about surgery may have had surgery shares with them as well.
SPEAKER: M2
A lot of times patients come to our office after already having surgery probably 25 to 30 percent of our patients even if they have had a dissected me or laminate me or certain other surgeries they certainly can still be a candidate. They’ve had a fusion surgery unfortunately that would actually make them not a candidate. LA Times also our offices the last place that people will go before they’re going to head to surgery there have been told by their medical doctor hey you need surgery because of the numbness that you have. Many cases actually people do not need surgery all they need is for the disc to heal and they will take care of the condition which is the herniated disc where the body disc now will of course take care of the symptom as well.
SPEAKER: M1
OK. And you yourself have had some issues over the years can you talk a little bit about that.
SPEAKER: M2
Absolutely. Several years ago I actually had an MRI of my neck because I was having severe pain weakness. I was actually having a little numbness and tingling in my hands and basically what was happening with me as you can see in my MRI is I had six bulging and herniated discs. Now if anyone should have had a healthy spine he should have told me I was getting a chiropractic care for 15 years doing all sorts of rehab exercise I worked out a lot eat really really well. So I should have had the perfect spine and that’s actually the perfect example of how those therapies that I tried and a lot of my patients try are great tools and they’re not wrong they’re just the wrong tool for a disk issue and for myself as you can see right here what was happening I had severe disc issues putting pressure on my nerve that was causing my issue my numbness my pain and the amnesty method really has helped my discs heal. And that’s really why I’m so passionate about what I do. Sure. We see people just like myself have tried a lot of things getting no results and getting the disk tissue itself to heal really helps a lot of patients right.
SPEAKER: M1
It sounds like it helps short term and long term. It’s not just a short term remedy it’s a long term solution Exactly.
SPEAKER: M2
Just like any tissue that is damaged if you cut your wrist you break your leg you do whatever you do as long as you give those tissues what they need to heal they will heal. Perfect. Same concept with the. We give the disk what it needs it’s gonna be healthy.
SPEAKER: M1

Nonsurgical Care for Bulging Discs

Transcript:

This is Dr. Jamy Antoinette from the Minnesota desk Institute. In this action like to briefly explain what a bulging disk is and really understand a bulging disk we need to have just a little bit of understanding of what a normal disk anatomy looks like. So very quickly when we look at a nice healthy desk and we look at a vertebrae This is what we want to see. This of course is the bone or the vertebrae the spine. This of course is the nerve and this is the disk. And when we look at a nice healthy disk tissue we want to see that the disk is nice and big and thick. There’s no compression on that disk. We also want to see that the inside jelly like fluid that’s called the nucleus that that’s contained by the outside annulus. So that represents a nice healthy normal disc. When we look at an MRI it’s also very easy to see what a normal disk looks like. So this is a great example here. And very briefly we see the vertebrae or the bone the spine. We also see the spinal cord. And then of course we see that the disk tissue is here and then a nice healthy desk. Again we’ll see nice good spacing and most important is that the disk is white that whiteness represents a healthy tissue. Now we can also very easily see the beginnings of a bulging desk and you look at this example here you see that disk is pushing out on the spinal cord that of course is going to cause pain numbness tingling weakness are very common symptoms of that issue. But most importantly we see how that discs to becoming less white than the other disks. And that’s a very important distinction that we needed to cover very quickly. You must think of a disk kind of like a plant or a tree something to that to that effect. That’s not getting water that it needs. If you stop watering the plant eventually green leaves will turn brown for example and is very important understand that you cannot have a brown leaf unless you have a bigger water issue of course which would of course be the problem is are the same concept when we look at that example again you cannot have a bulging disk and that there’s a bigger issue happening. So the bulging disk is really the condition while there certainly is a problem that’s allowing that to happen in the first place. And read the great news for the appropriate candidate someone that goes through our process of getting tested and examination and reviewing the MRI if we qualify somebody for a cure we actually have over a 95 percent success rate in helping that patient eliminate or substantially reduce their pain and really ultimately avoid surgery like more information about that or to see myself for a consultation. Feel free to call our office at (952)500-8090. Thank you.

Nonsurgical Care for Degenerative Discs

Transcript:

Hi Dr. Anton again from the Minnesota Disk Institute. And this section I like to briefly explain a degenerative disc. The vast majority I’d say almost 100 percent of our patients have come to us have a combination of disc issues including bulging discs herniation and of course degeneration. So what generation looks like on an MRI. Very simply is black desk. Now this would be the very beginning stages of degeneration and this would represent very advanced stages of degeneration. You can see that black tissue compared to the nice healthy white tissue here. And so that’s what a degenerative disease looks like on them right now it’s support understands how that is even able to occur in the first place and we’ll talk about that very quickly with a normal disc the disc needs a lot of things and these oxygen water nutrition. Most people have heard that the disc is made up of almost 90 percent water so it needs to be fully hydrated in order to not fail and to work properly. Now for many reasons the disc can become injured and damaged and will happen is the disc will begin to fail and start to appear like this and you can see really the collapse of that disc compared to the nice healthy disc tissue here and we can also see how the disc the outside rings which are called the annulus you can see how really damaged and deteriorated those appear compared to the nice healthy disc tissue. So many things can cause that slips falls traumas car accidents repetitive stress many many things but really the MRI gives me a chance to determine how much a generation is really there how long I spend there and really the prognosis for our patients and the good news is for the appropriate patient. Our program has over 95 percent success rate in helping people eliminate or substantially reduce their pain or their symptoms if they have degeneration in their desks. And I like you to read a little bit about my story right below this video. You can see my MRI from several years ago and you’ll notice there is all the discs in my neck were completely black degenerating lots of arthritis many many things going on to even see that level damage in my neck. It’s about a 20 to 25 year process meaning and I had some major trauma when I was just coming into my teenage years. So the bottom line is you do not have to be 70 80 90 year old person have major degeneration. I myself discovered severe arthritis severe degeneration in my young 30s and I seen patients here in their mid 20s that have severe degeneration. So it’s not a matter of how old you are it’s how long that disc has been failing. So I encourage you to do is call our office (952) 500-8090. I will have a chance to review your MRI when you come in for a consultation and Rubio to tell you if I think I can help you if our program if you really qualify for a program and whether or not we can help you avoid surgery in the future. So I’ll talk to you soon. Thank you.
